Students of Class IX enthusiastically participated in a Bag Free Day
on May 10, 2024. It was aligned with the objectives outlined in the National
Education Policy (NEP). The initiative aimed to foster a lighter and more
dynamic school day experience, emphasizing holistic and flexible learning
environments.
Throughout the day, students were involved in multi-disciplinary
activities designed by the departments of Science, Mathematics, and Social
Science.
The day commenced with the differential learning activities where
students moved to different venues for performing arts of their choice and did
art-integrated activities of their choice. The activities varied from coconut
art to dancing on folk dances of various regions. Later, the Mathematics
department took the students to the auditorium, where students learned the
concepts of Mathematics with the amalgamation of sports.
Physics, Chemistry, and Biology departments integrated sports and performing arts to design their lessons with an emphasis on experiential and activity-based learning. All the activities were aligned with the NEP's focus on a more holistic and engaging pedagogy. The day concluded with the idea of developing physical strength and focusing on mental well-being. Students were taken to the basketball court and Yoga Room for the games related to physical fitness reflex action and meditation. Principal, Mr. Sanjay Yadav, Vice Principal, Mr. Puneet Duggal, and Head Secondary Stage, Dr. Ekta Kandhari Ratra randomly visited the venues to encourage and motivate the students.
The day was a successful implementation of student-centric practices in line with the vision of the National Education Policy, highlighting the importance of adapting educational practices to better serve the needs and welfare of students.
