Library Rules
GENERAL RULES
- Library shall remain open from 8.00 AM to 2.00 PM for students.
- Entry of students without ID cards is restricted in the library. ID card is Non transferable and it must be carried at all time in the library premises.
- While entering the library, users should leave their personal belongings such as bags, personal books etc. in the pigeonholes placed outside the library entrance at their own risk.
- Loose papers are however allowed in the library. Users leaving the library should permit the library staff to examine them, if asked.
- Students are requested to maintain decency & decorum of library. Any irregularities may kindly be brought to the notice of the librarian.
- Users should maintain silence in the library & should not disturb other readers in the library. Smoking/Eating/Drinking or any other activities injurious to administrative or academic activities of the library are strictly prohibited in the premises.
- Circulation of books are entertained only in the period of the concerned class.
- Library shall remain closed for students during lunch break (10.45 AM to 11.05 AM).
- Library follows an open access system for the convenience and maximum use of books. Students are advised not to re-shelve books & other material to avoid misplacement of books.
- Users should not deface, mark, cut, mutilate or damage the reading material in any way. Persons doing so are liable to be fined heavily, apart from being ask to pay the cost of the damage. In case a person repeats the offence second time, his/her library card would be impounded for a month & the membership terminated for the two months. The reports may be made to the Authorities for final decision.
- Library services of a student member may be suspended for an even period by the librarian, if he/she misbehaves with the library staff or violate the rules of the library purposely. Disciplinary action will also be taken for misbehaviour & related activity.
USER ASSISTANCE
- The library staff is available for any assistance you may need in using the library resources, facilities & services. You may also give suggestions regarding resources, services & facilities.
CIRCULATION
- Library is primarily meant for students, teachers, & administrative staff of school.
- The borrower should satisfy himself/herself before leaving the issue counter as to whether the book is in sound condition or not. No explanation shall be admissible at a later stage.
- Borrowing facilities are given only to members. Library books are issued through the counters on presenting the OMV & ID card. The OMV card is Non-Transferable.
- A teacher may borrow 5 books; out of these books, 3 books (pertaining to his/her subject) shall be issued for an entire session, while other books shall be issued for a maximum period of 30 days.
- Each non-teaching staff may borrow 2 books. Books shall be borrowed for a maximum period of 30 days.
- Reference books are not to be issued.
- Student may borrow One book for a period of 7 days.
- Reference books, journals, magazines, CDs and project reports may be issued to students. (Recommendation of Teacher is required)
- All users of the library should get no dues certificate from the library before they leave the school.
- Maiden (single) copy of any document will not be issued, the same can be consulted within the library.
- The owner of the OMV card is responsible for any book issued against his/her card as per the library record.
- Newspapers are not allowed to be taken out of the library.
- The librarian can refuse to issue books to those possessing books over due.
- If an user loses or does not return a book issued against his/her account, the penalty will be as follows:
(a) He /she will have to replace (latest edition) the lost book as soon as possible.
(b) If the book is not available/out of print in the market than the user will have to pay double cost of the book. - If an user loses his/her OMV card, he/she shall make a written report to the librarian. In case a card lost and it is not intimated to the librarian, the user is responsible for any loss arising from misuse of the lost OMV card.
- If a borrower does not return the documents in spite of two successive reminders his/her membership is liable to be cancelled without further notice.
- Maiden copy of magazine & cd (One week old) will be issued to teacher & staff on merit of the case for overnight only.
- Staff on duty at the gate can search any member going out.
- However library timing and library rules may be changed without prior notice.
- Library rules are framed by the competent authorities and students are requested to abide with the rules. Authorities are also empowered to settle any dispute or problem of the library.
