 CPD PROGRAMME FOR ECONOMICS

 

Ahlcon International School in collaboration with Commerce Teachers’ Foundation conducted their first-ever Comprehensive Professional Development Programme for Economics Teachers. The workshop was held on 10th August 2024 and was attended by approximately 40 Economics Teachers from renowned schools of Delhi and NCR. 

The session started with a welcome address by the Vice Principal Mr Puneet Duggal who discussed the key focus areas of education and highlighted the relevance of including real-life examples into the teaching process. He discussed how the 4Cs and P (Critical Thinking, Collaboration, Creativity, Communication and Problem Solving) are an integral part of the 21^st century skill set, which will be developed by ensuring effective NEP integration. Mr. Dinesh Madan (Founder, CTF) addressed the esteemed gathering and discussed CTF's vision and their role in ensuring effective teaching of commerce and economics.

The resource person for the session was Dr Anoop Atria, a renowned author and educator from Ajmer. The workshop was themed on “Innovative Teaching Techniques in Economics”. Dr Atria emphasised on inclusion of debates and discussions in the classroom to enhance the logical reasoning and problem-solving abilities of the students and the use of real-life examples, pictures and images to clarify the basic concepts of micro and macroeconomics, economic and non-economic activities etc. Series of subject games and fun activities like national income relay race, income determination tambola, concept based- dog and the bone game and many more, illustrated the integration of sports and economics. Participation in such activities not only created positive energy among the audience but also, motivated the audience towards how to use such simple activities in ensuring an effective teaching-learning process. 

In the end, teachers were invited to share their experiences and takeaways. Every participant went away with a great learning experience. Overall, it was a wonderful learning experience for everyone.
