SEMINAR ON COMPETENCY BASED CURRICULUM
On
18th April 2022 Ahlcon International School collaborated with Australian
Council of Educational Research (India), which is a not-for-profit research
organization established in Australia, to initiate a
global dialogue on Competency-Based Curriculum. The
esteemed guests were -Dr Phil Lambert,
National President of the Australian College of Educators and Mr.
Amit Kaushik, CEO, The Australian Council for
Educational Research, India, the stalwarts who are
rigorously working on the curation of Competency based curriculum. Other
dignitaries who graced the event were- Esteemed Director, Ahlcon Group of Schools, Dr Ashok Pandey; Hon’ble Principal, Ahlcon International School, Mr.
Sanjay Yadav; Hon’ble Principal, Ahlcon Public School, Dr. Deepak Bisht; HM
Senior Section, Mr. Puneet Duggal; HM Middle Section, Ms. Sunita Rajiv; HM
Primary Section, Ms. Kavita Shah and the AHMs.
The seminar which was
held in hybrid mode was attended by an erudite ensemble of principals and
teachers from all over India. This special seminar titled ‘Global Directions: Competency-based Curriculum
− Teaching, Assessing and Reporting’ decoded
the novel trends in the curriculum which have become one of the biggest
“buzzwords” in academia today.
The event began with the
auspicious lamp lighting ceremony as a tribute to the deity of knowledge and a
blissful invocation by the school choir group. Director, Dr Ashok Pandey
welcomed the esteemed guest Dr. Phil Lambert with a memento and Mr. Amit
Kaushik was welcomed by Principal, Mr. Sanjay Yadav. Dr. Ashok Pandey, Director,
Ahlcon group of schools addressed the august gathering and candidly acquainted
everyone with the venerated guests through his genial words. Mr. Amit Kaushik
gave the opening remarks and introduced the esteemed speaker, Dr Phil Lambert.
Dr Phil Lambert highlighted
how workplace reforms, ecological destabilisation, revolutionary technological
changes, substantial global inequalities are leading to a volatile,
unpredictable, complex and ambiguous world. The educators present were
delineated that 21st century is the call for education systems to develop
competencies in explicit and intentional ways through deliberate changes in
curriculum design and pedagogical practice. He vehemently underscored that education
in and for the 21st Century will provide our young people with the knowledge,
skills, values and attitudes for participating productively in the
knowledge-economy and making a positive contribution to society as active
citizens. The reform logic, which thrives on vision, goals, curriculum,
teaching, assessment and reporting, was expounded by him.
As the seminar reached
its zenith, the question-answer session aided everyone in broadening their
horizons in understanding and appreciating the Competency based Curriculum. The
programme culminated with a gracious vote of thanks by Principal, Ahlcon
International School, Mr. Sanjay Yadav, who paid his gratitude to the esteemed
guests and dignitaries for making the event an efficacious one.
